I read about a small forest fire in the local newspaper and thought it sounded like an awesome place to test my newly bought drone. Thanks to a water bomber suspiciously circling an area on flightradar24 the rough location of the fire could easily be found. Then it was only to find the exact location of the smoke cloud from Sentinel 2 satellite imagery.

Now the only thing remaining was to bother my friend until he relented and joined me for the trip. At the place we met two firefighters keeping watch, warning us for hidden “smolder pits”.
